The English short story The Ant and the Grasshopper


One summer day, a grasshopper jumps around in a field, crying and singing to your heart's content. An ant passed by with a large ear of corn that he brought to its nest.

"Why don't you come and talk to me," asks the grasshopper, "instead of wasting your life?"

"I help preserve food for the winter," says the ant, "and I recommend you do the same."

"Why worry about winter?" said the grasshopper. "We have a lot of food now."

Short stories, but the ant continued his attempt.

When winter came, the grasshopper starved, while the ants each day distributed wheat and grain from the stores they had gathered in the summer.

Then the grasshopper knew ...
